American Locomotive Company DL500 'World Series'

Known as the 'World Series', the ALCo DL500 with it's gauge adaptable bogies, and in it's various incarnations has served several railways worldwide in Spain, Greece, Peru, India, Pakistan, Argentina & Australia. . The reasonably low axle loading of these handsome machines made them versatile units suited to a range of operating conditions and traffic.

A squarish nose and front windows make the DL500 a distinctive cab unit, styling is reminiscant of it's handsome and popular North American ancestor, the FA. There were three versions of different ratings, the most notable variation being a dual cab
version used in Australia.

Today, most units have been withdrawn, but there are still a few in revenue service worldwide, and several which have been restored or stored for preservation.
