GATC 3500 DryFlo Cvd Hopper GACX 1 DES

GATC 3500 DryFlo Covered Hopper lettered for GACX General American Marks Co. Version 1 (with Animated unloading). Provided with ARN. These 70 ton, Dry-Flo hopper cars were built by GAC in 10/1962. The 3500 cu. ft. Dry-Flow Covered Hopper was a commodity hauling backbone for over 40 years. In 1959, General American started producing Dry-Flow covered hoppers capable of hauling bulk commodities. Covered hopper innovations during the 1950's proved valuable to shippers; they wanted covered hoppers that would carry larger quantities of specialized commodities such as oats and malt. These cars will look right at home on any layout from the 1960's to the 1990's.
