Heartland America Fall season

It's autumn. The days are shorter and cooler and the colors that were hidden by the chlorophyll in the leaves and grasses are now the prominent hues. The brilliant colors are Naure's way of announcing the approach of a colorless (unless you like dirty white) and much colder season. The change from green to red, yellow, brown and orange is splendid and has a positive effect on railroad operations in the Heartland. With autumn comes the harvest of grains and other crops and the need to ship them to distant processing centers. On the Birch and Declaration subdivision, an increasing number of freights deliver both loaded and empty cars to the Declaration interchange yard while daily locals move back and forth between Declaration and Birch. Deane, Allison and Keenan, each surrounded by rich farmland, are especially busy during the autumn season. The many businesses in and around the cities of Declaration and Birch keep the B&D busy as the railroads continue to chip away at the trucking industry.
