VR I T17 I14946 Hopper 1972+ SG
Victorian Railways Type 17 I Wagon - I14946 - Hopper - Broad Gauge
Constructed between 1908 and 1929 the Type 17 I wagons were used all over the VR system for a wide variety of goods, such as coal, briquettes, timber, machinery, and more, with a maximum capacity of 16 ton (15 ton when fitted with buffers). The wagons were modified many times over the years, with changes such as tarpaulin lashing rings, handrails, coupler types, shunters steps, and more. By the 1970s, the type 17 I wagons (and their IA equivalents) were the only I wagons left on the Victorian Railways system. These wagons lasted until 1980, with their final years spent carrying coal and briquettes. From 1928, many I wagons were progressively re-classified to 'IA' wagons, which had dual 'capacities' (11ton or 16ton), since customers were charged by wagon capacity. Many I wagons (or the chassis from scrapped I wagons) were used to build various other wagons on the Victorian Railways.
This model represents I14946, as running in the 1970s (metric lettering, with larger 7in numbers), as fitted with a unique briquette hopper and Direct Service markings, and with automatic couplers, 'mesh' shunters steps, and modern axle boxes and disc wheels. This model has 'prototypical' broad gauge (5ft3in) wheel sets, for use with prototype VR layouts with Broad Gauge track.
This model uses the ACS script to control animated couplers, brake hoses, handbrake, as well as tail lamps (night only) and tail disc, with numbering script by James Moody (bloodnok). The wagon also has controllable doors, tarp bars, tarps (with lashing ropes, and animated lashing rings as appropriate), and tarp rope.
I hope you enjoy using this model.
