NMBS-SNCB HLD5927
55 HLD59's were built in the period 1954-1955 by Cockerill with an 1275kw Cockerill 608A Dieselmotor.
They first received the numbers 201.001-201.055. In 1971 44 received the new numbers 5901-5944. These
locomotives were first used for passenger services but after the electrification of the Belgian Railroads
they were moved to the freigh services and in later years for infrastructure works. The first were
decommissioned in the mid-eighties and in 1990 the remaining 20 were also decomissioned. At first they
were used for spareparts for the HLD51 series, but in the perio 1990-1993 11 locomotives were used in France
were the HSL's were built. After they returned from France it was decided that these locomotives were also used
for the HSL works in Belgium. In the mean time they were used for normal freightservices.
15 November 2002 was the last day a HLD59, the 5947, saw active duty.
The PFT-TSP owns 4 of these and they will rebuild 2. The NMBS-SNCB owns the HLD5917.
