Cape May County

This route, set in the 1950's summertime, consists of the southern 30 miles of the Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines, extending from Tuckahoe south to Cape May and including the Wildwood and Ocean City branches. The PRSL was formed in 1933 by the shotgun wedding of the Reading's Atlantic City Railroad and the Pennsy's West Jersey and Seashore Railroad with the state of NJ holding the shotgun. While the merger probably did save money, the PRSL showed a profit in only one year...1943. The PRSL lasted until the Penn Central failure, when the line became part of Conrail. Today the line operates from Cape May Courthouse south to Cape May under contract with New Jersey Transit.
