V & T Coach No. 4 1872-1874

Virginia & Truckee Coach No. 4 as-built
Built by Kimball Manufacturing Company of San Francisco; Coach No. 4 was part of a four-car set delivered to the V&T August 1872 and put into work on the unfinished Reno branch.
Once the branch line was completed, these 4 cars saw heavy service running between Reno and Virginia City.
After two years of hard use, the 4 cars were rebuilt by the V&T. Coach No. 4 received entirely new interior wood-work, new floors and seats; as well as air brakes.
Periodic upgrades and repaints continued until the car was retired in 1937. Later that year, Coach No. 4 was sold to Paramount Pictures.
Eventually, the car came to the Nevada State Railroad Museum, where it has been restored to a mid-1880's appearance.

This model depicts Coach No. 4 as it might have appeared from 1872 until its rebuild in 1874.
