V & T 24ft Flat Car; CP; yellow

A 24 foot flat car used on the Virginia and Truckee Railroad.
Records are unclear, but it appears the Central Pacific built between 10 and 17 24' flats for the Virginia and Truckee around 1870. This is a speculative model based on photos of similar home-built cars of the same period. Speculative numbering.
Paint records are non-existant, but these cars were likely initially painted the same brown that the CP was using at the time. They may have been painted slate around 1872, and may have been painted yellow some time before 1880. They were likely painted red in 1880.
Average weight is about 13750 lbs. 15 ton capacity.
