Carson City Car Whackers Shop; Caboose Red
A 16' x 30' building.
Prototype:
Also known as the Car Wrecker Shop or the Car Repair shop.
Car whackers would 'whack' or hit wheels with a hammer, listening for a dull thud that would signify a cracked wheel.
Unknown when this building was constructed, but it does show in the 1916 valuation survey. It lasted until the end of the line in 1950, but its final disposition is unknown.
If it was around before 1890, it was probably painted a Venetian Red. By the 1890s, it would have been repainted with a green roof, and by the 1910s, it would be a lighter Caboose Red.
