I have updated this scenario, there were some cars in the wrong siding in the yard, sorry if it confused you.

This route The Switchmans Nightmare and The Inglenook Shunting Puzzle were inspired by the model railway site www.wymann.info The Switchmans Nightmare is a shunting scenario, this involves switching vans at 17 industries and sorting into the correct order for the outbound trip this game will take about 2 hours to complete. Train 1 has the cars in the delivery order, unfortunatley Train 2 has not and will take a bit longer. You may not have all the cars on your system, just replace missing cars.

Make some cards with a description of each van type, give the cards a shuffle then sort the vans in order for the outbound trip.
To start send the train to trackmarker - switchmans nightmare, when finished send the train home - VIA trackmarker - To Trains, then TO trackmarker - train 1 or train 2. There is a runaround track and a turntable. It's up to you to decide the best way to complete the game. All switch levers by default are 'sidings closed' and must be operated manually. --Have fun--

Inglenook Shunting Puzzle. There are 8 vans, use the cards to select 5 of them and place them in order behind the engine. The sidings are sized to hold only the required number of cars. The back of the train can in any of the three sidings. You may decide to put the three vans not being used into the empty siding first. It could take between 10 and 30 minutes to complete each game, with over 6000 combinations no two games will be the same. after each game, restart driver or just shunt the cars into a 5 and a 3, shuffle the cards and start again. visit www.wymann.info for more info..
