Pw2 bad 62
Between 1862 and 1883 large numbers of baggage cars for passenger trains were purchased by the Gandducal Baden State Railways, which were essentially of the same built. The frames were initially made from wood, later rolled iron and finally rolled steel. The sides were covered by wooden boards, giving a freight car appearance. This was a characteristic trait of all Baden baggage cars throughout the 19th. century.
At one end was an elevated cabin from which train guards could watch the entire train.
Ladders and boards fitted at the ends of the roofs helped train guards to jump from one car to the other while the train was running.
Surviving cars were converted in 1905/06 to guard vans for freight trains and continued to serve in that capacity. By 1930 the last of them were finally retired.
