CDR directors' saloon 1

CDR Directors' Saloon no. 1. Built in 1882 by the Railway Carriage and Wagon Co. for the original West Donegal Railway Company for their new narrow-gauge line from Stranorlar to Donegal, through the Barnesmore Gap. A panelled 1st class saloon later fitted with a lavatory compartment. No.1 was often used by the company directors for their inspection tours and survived until the railway's closure in 1960. It is now preserved in the railway gallery at the Folk & Transport Museum, Cultra, Co. Down. This model is in memory of Ricky Sykes 1942-2008.
