SF Transit shed 2
Transit shed for docks c. 1840s, open sides and ends. These were used on the docksides to store goods temporarily for loading or which had been unloaded, as protection from the worst of the weather. This is one of the earliest single-level types with open sides and open ends. Railway tracks would be laid on either side and beyond them was the edge of the dock where the ships were moored and cranes installed.
