SF Victoria Clock Tower
The Victoria clock tower was a landmark in Liverpool docks and remains standing as a Class II listed building. Designed and constructed by Jesse Hartley, surveyor for the then new Salisbury Dock of 1848 as a public clock tower and, perhaps also to be used as a telegraph or lighthouse although a navigation light was never installed. The structure stands about 103ft tall and is conical at the base supporting an hexagonal tower. There are six clock faces; these were for the dockers, ships' crews and other harbour workers although the faces were not illuminated at night. The telegraph referred to was to be a variant of the visual mechanical type pioneered by the Admiralty in the early 19th century - as illustrated in that brilliant book Going Postal by Terry Pratchett.
Thanks to Leigh Stokes (ElStoko) for permission to use his script, for my basing this model on his NSWGR Seth Thomas railway clock, and for his help in getting my model to work. The original script has been specially revised for me by Leigh to work with multiple clock faces. It should not be used by other content creators without his permission.
