VR Olinda Creek Rail Bridge
This is a detailed, faithful model of the railway bridge, as built by the VR Ways and Works Branch, to span the Olinda Creek, located at the Down end of the yard at Lilydale at the time, the terminus of the line from Melbourne, when the line was extended to Healesville in 1888. The bridge is constructed basically of the standard Timber Trestle design but is unusual for it's type in that it is a bridge for two tracks (where 99.9% of all others of this design are for single track ONLY) and is built with 11 Foot [3.35 meters] spans (whereas, the 'standard' is 20 Foot). With 9 such spans, it extends 100 Feet [30.5 metrers] across the creek ravine, standing a maximum of 15 Feet [4.5 meters] above the creek bed. This asset is intended for Trainz builds 2.9 and above.
