VR Type 'G' Signalbox - Kensington
This is a faithful replica of the VR type 'G' suburban, brick signalbox, as designed and built by the VR Ways and Works Branch to oversee the traffic movements at the inner suburban location of Kensington, 4.5 Kilometers from Spencer Street, on the line to Broadmeadows and ultimately, Albury. It is still extant and in use to this day, despite numerous upgrades and modernisation around it. At this location, six tracks (now only four), converge into the double line for the 'run' up the ''North East Corridor'' and there are also extensive sidings that serve the Goodman & Fielder Grain company's Silos (better known in Australia as the makers of ''Wonder White'' bread). This model represents the first in this series to cover the ''bespoke'' boxes, those boxes which were designed for their function or location and not to a predetermined 'standard' but which cannot be classified as any other type. A 'free standing' Signalbox, this model, although it has been textured to the same standard as the other Type 'G' Generic Signalboxes in this series (by the same author and available separately), has significant differences to make it unique . Although based on a prototype signalbox, the asset would not be 'out of place' utilised in a freelance route based on Victorian Railways practice. Because this item is KIND scenery ONLY, it can be placed anywhere on a route without the need for additional Invisible Track (although somewhere beside a railway line in the vicinity of a large interlocked junction would be appropriate). As a 'scenery' object, it has the capabililty of being used as the 'housing' for a Trainz Surveyor camera (for which the 'tracking' type is recommended) so that one might view the passage of trains as if located within the signalbox, Toward this end it has the complete interior as part of the mesh (rather than a separate 'cab'), because of which, there are no 'interior' views nor any associated 'external' views. Also, because of the numerous multitudinous shapes involved, this model is very polygon intensive. This asset is intended for use in Trainz version TS2009 or later.
