MR coal stage

Midland Railway single lane and stage coal shed, based on an example at Mansfield. Introduced from the late 1870s, the last example was still in use in the 1960s (Manningham) - coal was unloaded from wagons into wheeled containers that were then tipped into locos from the chute or stage. Careful releasing of the wagon brakes would allow gravity to line up the next wagons.
