Monero_Coal_Bin
This 50 ton capacity coal bin at Monero, New Mexico on the D&RGW narrow gauge line between Chama, NM
and Durango, CO was created from a copy of the original D&RGW plans dated 12/5/1937. Coal was delivered by dump truck
down a dirt road from a nearby mine. While the chute appears high enough to re-coal a locomotive tender, a more likley
scenario is coal being loaded into drop botton gons for delivery to the engine facility at Chama, New Mexico (about 12 miles to
the eas. The center line of the 3ft gauge track should be 8ft 6in from the face of the structure (a little farther for standard
gauge track and you may need to raise the structure a little as well).
