2-8-2_DRGW_451_K-27

This K-27 is in 1910 livery with slide valves. The K-27, The Mudhens, were delivered in 1903 as Vauclain compounds with slope back tenders. Between 1907 and 1909, they were rebuilt with slide valves. Beginning in 1918, all K-27'S were equipped with rectangular tenders, replacing the original slope back tenders. Between 1923 and 1925,The K-27 454, 456, 461 and 458 were rebuilt with inside admission piston valves. Between 1925 to 1929, the 452, 455, 459, 462, 463 and 464 were rebuilt with outside admission piston valves and Walshart valve gear. In 1926 the 456 was fitted with Walshart valve gear.
