Morpeth
The East Maitland to Morpeth Branch was the first passenger carrying Branch-line in New South Wales, opened on May 2 1864. The Town of Morpeth was an important Port on the River Hunter which linked Newcastle to the Upper Hunter Valley. Paddle Steamers served the Morpeth Wharves.
A Coal Staith at the River served coal export. At times the line was served by a steam tram and C2 trailer. Later services used a 2021 locomotive and a two car American Suburban Set. The line closed in August 1953. Animated figues are from Neoklai75's Site, Cliffs are from SirGibby's Trainzone. There is a pathway for ships on the Hunter River.
