Colac to Crowes 3

The narrow gauge line from Colac to Crowes was the last VR narrow gauge line to close in 1962. Efforts were made to save it as a tourist line but unfortunately it was torn up and turned into a bicycle track. The line saw the operation of the Garratt locos G41 and G42. G42 is repaired and running on the Gembrook line. The principal traffic was passenger, timber, livestock and vegetable produce.
Buchanan station was the highest of any narrow gauge station on the VR. The station at Crowes was the southernmost station on the mainland of Australia.
The line was the longest narrow gauge line built by VR. The line was opened in two stages : Colac to Beech Forest and Beech Forest to Crowes. It was progressively closed over a number of years prior to 1962. Cuttings used on the Route are from SirGibbys Nature 2 series, animated figures are from Neoklai75's site
