Dorrigo
The Glenreagh to Dorrigo Branch was opened in December 1924. It was built to service the timber industry in a mountainous area around the Dorrigo Plateau. The line climbs 664 metres over a length of 69km. Two tunnels, numerous bridges, tight curves and steep gradients were required. The line was closed in 1972 after many storm wash-aways. Two rail peservation companies are working from each end now to exploit the line's scenic charms. These are the Dorrigo Steam Railway and the Glenreagh Mountain Railway. The nature of the landscape made this line one of the most expensive to construct in NSW. Cliffs and cuttings are from SirGibby's Scenery Series and animated figures are from Neoklai75's Russian Site. The Route depicts the Briggsvale Timber Tramway also.
