The Koo-Wee-Rup to Strzelecki Railway was 49 km. long It opened in June 1922. Strzelecki lies at the headwater of the Lang Lang River and the railway follows the river, generally, down to Koo-Wee-Rup. The line runs through lush Gippsland Dairying and former Timber Getting Country serving farms in the Strzelecki Ranges. The line was closed in 4 stages after bushfires or floods destroyed bridges. The line was closed after Triholm in 1930, after Yannathan in 1941, after Bayles in 1950 and the line was lost completely in 1959. Out of Koo Wee Rup the land is flat and canals drain what was once the Koo Wee Rup Swamp. From Heath Hill to Triholm the landscape becomes more hilly and after Triholm it becomes mountainous.
