Oberon
The Tarana to Oberon Branch Line in Western NSW was built as a line to service retuned Soldier Settlers. farms . It started construction in 1919 and opened in 1923. It was closed nearly ssixty years later. It was noted for its tight 100 metre radius curves and steep four percent grade from Carlwood Sttation up to Hazelgrove Station. The line rises over 350 metres. It passes through some very picturesque mountain country. Volunteers are currently working to re-open this fine line as a Tourist Train Trip. The landscaoe was constructed following the NSW topographical survet and on site observations.
