The Chesapeake Valley & Western is a fictional Class III American Shortline inspired by the Buckingham Branch Railroad, Appalachia region coal mining operations (Clinchfield, L&N, and the ex-Southern Appalachia District), as well as the Pennsylvania Reading Seashore Lines. There are 4 coal loadouts on the map, about a dozen other industries to switch and serve, a pusher station, and even a tourist passenger operation.
