Border Pacific Railroad Company

Border Pacific Railroad operates freight service from Rio Grande City to Mission, TX, 31.6 miles, where a connection is made with UP via the Rio Valley Railroad. Rail is 90 pound.

Traffic includes aggregates - silica sand, ballast, crushed stone, asphalt - scrap paper and feed grains - 1,000 cars a year.

This line was built by the St. Louis, Brownsville & Mexico Railroad and opened in 1925. The line came under Missouri Pacific Railroad control and was absorbed by that company in 1956. Short line service started February 2, 1984.

The company is independent.
