NWR No.1 'Thomas' 1960 (Rebuild)
Thomas the Tank Engine is an LBSCR E2 designed by Lawson B. Billinton.
He was built in 1915 at Brighton Works, but not long after he found himself on the Island of Sodor just off the North West coast of England.
Thomas stayed in his LBSC Black goods livery until 1920, when he was officially bought by the North Western Railway. Ever since he has been in the red lined, bright blue livery we know and love.
After crashing into the Ffarquhar Station Master's house in 1960, Thomas was left badly damaged. He was promptly rebuilt with a slightly altered design - a fully straight running board, wider cab, larger water tanks and a larger coal bunker.
