SBS Large Goods Shed, Alnwick, BR NE colours

A stone-built goods shed, inspired by the NER building formerly at Alnwick, but now partially preserved at the Beamish open air museum (the restored version is shorter, with one cart bay rather than two, and also mirror-imaged). Along with the separate ancillary goods platform and the yard crane, it represents the building as it was for most of the first half of the twentieth century: it appears to have been partially rebuilt at the town end, presumably as a damage repair. This version carries the Oriental Blue livery that was carried by buildings in British Railways North Eastern Region during the steam era, even though the official colour for signage was Tangerine (stranger still, Scotland abjured its very similar official signage Sky Blue for buildings in favour of a very Western-looking Brown and Cream. High Poly close up, but three levels of LOD [6390, 732, 28]
