SBS Engine Shed, Small, Thurso, HR
SBS Engine Shed, Small, Thurso, HR
The northernmost loco shed in the UK, the Highland Railway's Thurso building was small, built at a time when their locos seemed impossibly tiny for the demands of their routes. In keeping with their standard architectural practice, it followed a company design pattern that was shared with many of its other sheds: a baby brother to the two road sheds found at Wick and Kyle, amongst others; the four road shed at Aviemore; and the eight road shed at Perth, all with narrow arched doors and tall hooded smoke vents, though the vents were removed and the roofs rebuilt at several sites over the years.
High Poly close up, but three levels of LOD [7800, 4122, 46].
