Weathered reskin of Ben Neal's Baldwin Heavy 2-8-2 Mikado as NYC Heavy 2-8-2 Mikado #1375. Between 1912 and 1918, New York Central completed one of the largest steam locomotive rebuilding projects of any rail company in the US . NYC contracted several companies to convert 462 G5 Consolidations to H5 Mikados. With the addition of 179 newly built engines, NYC had more H5's in their inventory than any other engine. They were known as bulldogs by many and were a common sight before WW2 on the River Division on the west side of the Hudson River. They were occasionally seen on the Hudson Division as well.
