Morning Rush Hour - Beta
Good morning and welcome to the Lakeshore West Corridor! Today you'll be heading GO transit's F59PH #557 heading from Oakville to Toronto Union Station making all station stops and terminating at platform 4. The train has just finished loading and is ready to depart at 8:04. This is a rush hour train but remember that all freight trains have priority so be sure to yield to them and to obey your signals! Today will be a very busy day for several reasons. CP will be utilizing its trackage rights and has 2 southbound frieghts heading to Hamilton and Buffalo via the Canpa sub on top of the regular freights CN usually sends at this time. Further, there is a MOW train utilizing the corridor, care of the ongoing track improvements going on at Union Station. As well, there's a local making some pickups near Long Branch and of course, there are the daily VIA/Amtraks using the corridor. At least the heaviest traffic is heading westbound! Traffic inbound will be congested, so expect delays. However, once you pass Port Credit, the congestion should ease thanks to the third track. You'll have to throw the switches at a few locations, but for the most part, they are set for you. You should be able to arrive at Union Station around 8:45. Use the main track at all times (do not enter yards) and use the southernmost tracks at stations for dropping off and picking up passengers. Wait at least 30 seconds after loading at each station (to ensure a more realistic loading time). After stopping at platform 4 at Union Station, let's head downstairs for some coffee and donuts! :D
Oh, here's a reminder in case you forgot...a yellow signal means proceed at half track speed, a red means proceed at one quarter track speed and be prepared to stop at the next signal. Do not pass a red until you are given clearance!
See the thread on the forums for further information, constructive criticism and help should you be missing any dependancies.
A BIG THANKS goes out to Neil Smith for all of his hard work in creating such a realistic, fun and well-detailed representation of the Toronto Lakeshore West corridor! I also want to thank all the content creators for making such awesome rolling stock and locos and to all the friendly and helpful trainzers too!
Good luck, ENJOY and have fun!
Notes here for a more prototypical feel:
i) Do not exceed 100 kph at all times.
ii) As far as I know, GO Trains ring their bells as they approach a crossing or station.
iii) When approaching a station, you should not pass the beginning of the end platform at a speed higher than 40 kph
iv) When switching tracks, do not do so at excessive speeds.
