The C62 type steam locomotive is the Hudson type (4-C-4) tender steam locomotive for a express.
49 engines were manufactured from 1948 to next year from the remodeling name of the D52 type steam locomotive,
and they were used for a higher class train pulling of the main lines such as Toukaido Line and San-yo Line.
They were the maximum and the strongest steam locomotives for a express passenger train in Japan.
