Westinghouse C-100 Automated People Mover
Westinghouse/Adtranz/Bombardier C-100 Automated People Mover, based partially on the designs from the 1980 Atlanta Airport batch and the 1994 Miami Metromover batch.
These APMs started life at Tampa Bay airport in 1971, which later got replaced by Bombarider CX-100 vehicles. Later, other airports started using this technology of driverless vehicles on peumatic tyres to link passengers from main airport centres with tight headways. Miami-Dane Transport then used the APMs around their intital 1.7 mile long loop around Miami Centre in 1986, this later was extended in 1994 and a further batch of APMs.
The C-100 design is now nearly 40 years old, the last known APMs of this design, was produced in 1994, to which the CX-100s, which are based on simliar, but more updated technology, were based on the C-100s and rapidly replacing the remaining C-100s, in turn, the CX-100/C-100s are also being replaced in some places, by Bombardier Innovia vehicles, whcih use the same trackbed, but different technology.
Due to where the vehicles operate, it is impossible to produce a history of each fleet in each establishment.
