MN SPV2000

In 1978 Budd offered a new RDC (Rail Diesel Car) called the SPV-2000 (Self Propelled Vehicle). With only 30 units built, and 24 units sold, the SPV2000 proved unreliable and did not gain acceptance with passenger equipment purchasers.

The SPV's, now called 'Constitution Liners' ran in push-pull service on the Metro North's Harlem line. The few remaining in service today were converted to unpowered cars and are now hauled behind other forms of motive power.
