CN Vanderbilt Tender Type III
Vanderbilt Tender Type III
When it came to tenders, the Vanderbilt type was one of the largest, and was common for larger locomotives. Canadian National used them for all of its larger locomotives (Hudson, Mountain, and Northern classes)
The Vanderbilt was named after Cornelius Vanderbilt, the U.S. railroad and steamship industrialist in the 19th century. The design was patented in 1901.
