NWR No.5 'James' Tender (red/black, unnumbered)
This is a tender belonging to one of many North Western Railway tender engines, designed via Topham's own pen with inspiration from the work of Henry Fowler. This particular example is painted in North Western red and lined in black, a livery notable until the Sixties as that of the engine that tried to push Henry out of the tunnel, but most famously worn by James.
