When the 1948 railway comitte gathered to decide on the next generation of locomotives it became evident that there was a big need for an allround type locomotive which could replace the old class D-locomotives which were beginning to be worn out. Discussions were made in favor for a new boggie locomotive but the comittee voted to play safe and decided that the new locomotive was to be built around the same concept as the old D-series - with coupling rods. The first locomotive of class Da was delivered in 1952 and 93 engines were built until the last locomotive in 1957.

This particular locomotive is in use by Shortline V?st, Falk?ping today.
