NSW culvert portal no.2 with outward-projecting wing walls, cut sandstone, 10ft aperture
The portal to a culvert used to take watercourses through railway embankments in NSW. The portal has a wing wall projecting at 45 degrees from each side. There are no gap-filling planes behind the wing walls.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries stone masons were employed to shape sandstone for culvert portals and tunnel lining.
This culvert is 5ft wide at its base and is tailored to fit the notch in <kuid:368725:20506> 'embankment segment for fitting with 10ft culverts, Liverpool Range'.
