NSW highway wire-mesh guard fence, mid 20th century
A 3ft-high wire-mesh fence used as a guard barrier on stretches of highway where there is a hazard adjacent to the road, typically a sharp drop in ground elevation.
The mesh is attached to 1ft-diameter timber posts capped in white.
