FDL Fond du Lac
Begun in 1880 as the 3-ft gauge Fond du Lac, Mayville & Amboy. On reaching Iron Ridge in 1886 it was bought by the Milwaukee RR and relaid in standard gauge. In places the main is still constrained by the 3-ft alignment. Maximum grade 2+% EB and WB, ruling grade 1.5%. Here the Milwaukee did not fold and still operates the entire route (abandonments began in the 1950's). Some of the industries have real analogs while many are notional, as is much of the downtown trackage. Terrain and alignment modeled from Topoquest.com(tm) and Google Earth(tm). A GP38 is heavy power here, 9s are preferred. Intro is 'Morning Connection.' For TRZ2009 or later; I run in Compatibility Mode for good foliage effects.
The trackage is stable. All served industries are installed. All the communities are represented although only the city of Fond du Lac is fully developed. Landscaping is complete from Fond du Lac east (compass south) to Mile 153 and much has been done from Iron Ridge to Neda. Each associated session is named 'FDL XX.' There are currently 14 sessions developed. Still looking for a site for a container terminal!
All content has been drawn from Auran/N3V and should be available on the Download Station. A First Class Ticket is recommended for download.
