Porchester and Bull's Well - Automatic traffic session
This session features automatic passenger and goods trains, some being randomly generated in portals. This session follows no realistic era, old and modern trains run alike (as often on model railroad layouts). Due to every train on the layout reacting differently depending on other trains and how junctions have been set by other trains, its impossible to test all scenarios and get out all bugs that might appear. Thus, this session WILL get stuck sooner or later, even if I tried to prevent that as far as possible. Generally, the passenger trains running around the train on platforms 2 and 3 need some time to 'think', making it look like they are stuck but they arent, give them 2 or 3 minutes.
A good sign to tell if a train is stuck is when its not moving but putting out full exhaust. Then the train most likely has the 'striking driver' issue where it refuses to move under AI control at all - theres no known solution to this problem in Trainz apart from restarting the game, as it can randomly occur with any train on the layout.
Due to the weird signal system of the route its also possible that two trains want to use the same section of track and come to a halt a few meters away from each other.
In some situation trainz figures out which train to give way first so that both reach their destination and the blockade resolves, although this thinking process can take up to several minutes before anything starts moving again.
the second case is that both trains meet on a single track and come to a halt few meters from each other, the only solution here is to manually delete one of the trains through quickdrive.
When deleting a train, always delete the portal train if possible, because the trains placed on the layout at start follow some scripted cycles and removing them breaks the cycle and all trains connected to it.
If two scripted trains meet (generally, they shouldnt) try placing one of them on a different track with quickdrive, theres a 50% chance both will continue driving after that, but it can also fall into a glitched state where it does not react to any AI control at all (as mentioned above)
Have fun with this little session by Mika K. 'laurinlaki'
