WHR Russell - Green (2ft Gauge)
Russell was built in 1906 for the Portmadoc, Beddgelert & South Snowdon Railway, but was never used by that company and actually ran on the North Wales Narrow Gauge Railway. In 1923 both concerns were merged into the Welsh Highland Railway and Russell became the mainstay of the new line. After acquisition the cab and boiler fittings were cut down in order to try and let the locomotive run up the Festiniog Railway. Legend has it that the attempt was declared a failure after the loco became wedged deep in the depths of the old Moelwyn Tunnel. This model represents the cut down loco during the 30s when it carried FR style green livery.
Crew figures by Steve Flanders of ING4Trainz.
Thanks to Paul Hobbs for his mesh library elements, some of which have been used in the model and for the great tutorials, which helped me get this model working.
Other peices of FR stock by kevmt can be found on the Ffestiniog page at http://www.trainzone.co.nz/ffestiniog.htm.
