VR DD Class Superheating E-spec - 3 (TS09)

After the success of the 1914 experimental superheater that was fitted to DD 882 and was very successful later on it was fitted to new builds of DD from 1915. The last of the DD's built where fitted with larger cylinders to increase tractive effort and reduced boiler pressure to save boiler life.

This e-spec is setup for the Superheated DD No.1022 which was fitted with Pulverised Brown Coal burning equipment for experimental firing use in 1923 and was removed from 1924 because it was a failure at the time as it couldn't keep the steam pressure up, this loco was later renumbered to DD 730 in 1926 then to D3 694 in 1931 and later withdrawn from 1956.
