VR DDE Class Superheating E-spec - 1 (TS09)
Due to the groth of the Suburban traffic and heavier rollingstock the Victorian Railways DDE was an adoption of the DD Class locomotive by adding a pair of trailing wheels and suitable water tanks and coal bunker to be used on Surburban Lines from 1908 to replace the E Class 2-4-2 Tanks, After Electrification from 1919 the DDE where converted to Shunting by removing the Wheel reverser with a Lever reverser and fitted with shunter's Steps, few where converted to superheating from 1923.
This e-spec is for the 2 DDE engines that where converted to Superheating and where renumbered 257 and 258 'ex 713 and 714' and later recorded to D4 in 1930.
