VR S Flat T1a - 1976+

The first two S numbers 1 & 2 were built by the American Car & Foundry company in the U.S.A. and assembled at Newport workshops in 1925. The rest of the class were converted from E wagons for wartime traffic between 1940 and 1942. From 1947 to 1949 many S's were converted back to E wagons. In late 1976 or early 1977 this wagon was fitted with 20ft I.S.O Container brackets, Photos have shown this wagon at East Yard Melbourne, Wangaratta and Woodend and worked as a single container wagon in the train rather than working with other container wagons, containers where loaded/unloaded with a ramp from the platform to the wagon and a Forklift loaded/unloaded the goods. from early 1979 this wagon was condemned. Later in 1979 this wagon was converted to HR 91 to carry Y Class Locomotive bogies between Workshops.

This model represent S 1 between 1976 to 1979 in a dirty Wagon Red with BB 30 Roller Bearing Bogies and Container Brackets, Steps created by Zec.
