VR S Flat T2a - 1976+

The first two S Wagons numbers 1 & 2 were built by the American Car & Foundry company in the U.S.A. and assembled at Newport workshops in 1925. The other 99 were converted from E wagons for wartime traffic between 1941 and 1942 and kept there original E numbers, E 1 was renumbered to S 203 as there was already an S 1. With a change in needs by the railways a large number were rebuilt back into E wagons between 1947-1949. In late 1976 this wagon was fitted with 20ft I.S.O Container brackets, it was recoded to VFDA in July 1979, photos have shown this wagon running the Melbourne-Bendigo Line (Northern and Midland Region) and worked as a single container wagon in the train rather than working with other container wagons, containers where loaded/unloaded with a ramp from the platform to the wagon and a Forklift loaded/unloaded the goods.

This model represents number 115 from 1976 to 1979 with the metric lettering, container brackets and dirty Wagon Red, Steps created by Zec.
