VR ESX T1a - 1971+

The Victorian Railways ESX Wagons where built at Ballarat Workshops from July 1964 to July 1965 and Newport Workshops from April to Augest 1965, a total of 26 where built, these wagons where built for bogie exchange Steel traffic between Vic, NSW, SA and WA, this rarely happened and instead these wagons mostly stayed on the Broad Gauge and would get loads swapped between other wagons. they where put into Pipe and Swan Timber traffic and where thrown all over Victoria. In 1971 they where modified with longer draw gear and coupler shanks.
