NRC RKEX T6a - 1999+

From March 1980 through to July 1980 ELX wagons numbered 9, 18, 26, 27, 28, 31, 34 and 49 had their doors removed and timber bolsters fitted to the floor and recoded VOEX for Steel Slab traffic between Albury, NSW and Long Island, Vic. These wagons never went on the Standard Gauge, while at Albury loads where moved from SG wagons to BG wagons rather than bogie exchange, about 1982/83 the side bodies where removed and stanchions fitted like the VODX wagons. From March 1984 VOBX wagons numbered 42, 53, 62 and 65 where converted to VOEX however this time the sides where lowered and numbered 9 to 12. In 1986 another 12 VOBX/VOCX wagons numbered 394, -, 266, 207, 197, 363, 233, 397, 1016, 398, 406 and 211 where converted to VOEX from February through to March and renumbered 39 to 50 following the VODX conversions. Going into 1987 all VOEX where recoded VKEX and fitted with extra stanchions. The extra stanchions may have been fitted in 1987 at North Melbourne Workshops when they where recoded or between 1989 to 1991 during their lift period and repaint at North Bendigo Workshops. From 1991/92 these where also seen at Mile End on South Australian steel traffic. These where recoded to RKEX in late 1994 handing over the rollingstock to the Federal Government operator National Rail Corporation and remained on the Broad Gauge until April 1995 then they all went on the Standard Gauge. In 1995 NRC moved their load exchange operation from Albury to Melbourne which made it easier for them to move loads from both SG and BG wagons and removed the need to send BG Steel trains to Albury just to swap loads from SG to BG stock along with some RKEX going on the Standard Gauge. In 1995 ROBX 114 and 170 where converted to RKEX keeping their original numbers, another RKEX was built from ROBX 175 in late 1999, not sure if it should be Improved Handbrake or Minor Handbrake so I built it with a Minor.

This Model represents the Type 6 RKEX wagons with Corrugated ends and numbered 175 late from 1999 on Standard Gauge, Step's created by Zec.
