Glass Factory Art Deco

This 1928 building was built in the Art Deco style for glass manufacturer W.E. Phillips Co., established in conjunction with the opening of General Motors. This company supplied the glass used in the construction of the new GM plant and the mirrored glass for the automobiles. It was the largest plant of its kind in Western Canada. Fierce competition closed the company in 1931 and the building remained vacant until the late1930s. Later occupants were the Chrysler Corp. of Canada (1945 to 1954), Pilkington Glass Ltd. (1954 to 1969), and the sign manufacturer Signal Industries Ltd. (since 1969). Ported with appropriate Trainz modifications by me from the Phillips Co. Height adjustable.
