RGS #20

This is a Class C-3-85 locomotive built in 1899 by the Schenectady Locomotive Works of Schenectady, NY. This locomotive started its career as the Florence & Cripple Creek #20 'Portland'. In 1916 she was sold to the Rio Grande Southern. The #20 was a favorite with the engine crews. She was also a star of the silver screen. In 1949 the #20 was used in the film 'A Ticket to Tomahawk'. She received a colorful paintjob, and was named 'Emma Sweeney' and reletered for the Tomahawk & Western. The #20 was also used briefly in 'Viva Zapata' in 1951. Then after 53 years of faithful service she was retired in 1952. That year she was sold to the Rocky Mountain Railraod Club as she had always been a favorite of the club members. The engine is currently on display at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, CO.
